We’re Still Here!
As of last week, we weren’t so sure…

But now…it’s unanimous – every member of the team is on the same wavelength!  We DO want to be an actual entity.  We WILL embark on a fundraising campaign.  As dance professionals, we feel it is very important to have the opportunity to combine creating with caregiving.  We’re eager to show our creative colleagues that it is indeed possible to do both – at the same time.

The meeting today takes place at Mandy’s house with all 5 children present.  That’s a lot of kids…but thanks to a cornucopia of toys and lots of space, the children are (generally) engrossed in their play.  This gives us the chance to really focus on our discussions.  In fact, our meeting is, in Jonathan’s immortal words, “wildly productive.”  The team’s enthusiasm and determination are palpable.  We agree that launching a fundraising campaign must be our first order of business; we need seed money to do our work.  To that end, we determine/plan the following:
  • Optimal length of time for fundraising effort.
  • Components of the campaign, including letter writing and crowdfunding details.
  • Delegation of associated tasks, including composing the solicitation and acknowledgement letters, writing copy and creating a video for the crowdfunding initiative, and handling the mechanics of the collection of funds.
  • Creation of a timeline of tasks for the entire process.
  • Refining marketing strategies to be reflected in our communications.
  • Website updates highlighting the fundraising campaign.
  • Accounting responsibilities.
Medium-term objectives are also discussed, including:
  • More elaborate crowdfunding campaign.
  • Finding a studio to serve as sponsor and partner in the development of the Second Story enterprise.
We are now clear – all systems are go!
